Solopreneurs need creative ways to get the word out about perspective endeavors. Marketing is an important part of business no matter the size or budget. Guerrilla marketing is one option of many.
What is Guerrilla Marketing: An advertising strategy that’s all about low-cost unconventional means (graffiti, sticker bombing, flash mobs) to promote a product or an idea. The goal is to create buzz and maybe go viral.

1) Create a flyer and post it where potential customers might see it – post office, church/community center, or library. For example, Tekserve (a New York City Apple Computer reseller and Apple Authorized Service Provider) has a bulletin board right when you walk into the store. They allow their customers to post flyers and business cards on it. How awesome is that?!
2) Are you an avid reader? Whether you support your local library or bookstore, on your next visit take extra copies of your flyers, business cards, or promotional stickers and stick them in books that are related to your business or something that your potential customer might pick up and read. You never know, the next person to pick up that book might be in the market for your services.
3) Own a car? Gas prices are sky rocketing, but you still have to drive. Why not look into turning your vehicle into a moving billboard? What’s better than advertising your business while you ride around doing errands and other stuff? This idea is called a vehicle wrap and here are two examples of how you can pull this off. To promote Jeff Lewis (Bravo’s Flipping Out) new show on Bravo – Interior Therapy, they made over NYC Taxi and gave free rides. Where was I on that day? Everyone loves something for free, especially in New York. Bethenny Frankel(Bravo’s Housewives of New York, Bethenny Getting Married? and Bethenny Ever After) turned her VW Bug into her Skinny Girl Margaritas Car. Gotta love her spirit. She’s a businesswoman, wife and mom.
4) Become a walking billboard yourself. Get the name of your business or website on a t-shirt and wear them to that next conference or meet-up you attend. Or just wear them as a part of your everyday outfit. How cool would that be? Have extra stickers? Pimp out your gadgets. Put them on your laptop, cell phone cover, iPad, etc. Here’s an example featuring Angel Laws of the popular entertainment blog – Concrete Loop and author of Angel’s Law of Blogging. So what are you waiting for? It’s time to get some additional clients with your new marketing techniques!
